Meet The Team
Freya
My name is Freya, I am 23 years old and I have always loved dogs and had an interest in dog related activities. I have always enjoyed watching Crufts and being able to go back in 2015 was very exciting. I also had the opportunity to attend a Richard Curtis workshop, where I was inspired further to start dog training. My sister and I have spent years training our two dogs (Willow, 12 and Bambi, 7) and I found a real passion for it, attending agility, obedience and dog dancing classes. I have entered many competitions with them too, making the hard work more rewarding for myself as well as my dogs. I have walked dogs for friends over the years and looked after their pets whilst they were away/out for a few hours. I have also participated in running dog dancing/trick classes (including helping a young disabled girl to create a dance routine with her dog, adapting tricks to suit them both), agility sessions and volunteered at a local obedience classes including puppies and adult dogs. My dream is to spend my time helping dogs and owners, and being able to put my passion into use whilst also exploring my beautiful home, the Isle of Purbeck, with an amazing group of dogs. After years of being lost and unhappy in previous workplaces, I decided to really work to make my dreams come true! I strongly believe in balanced training (between the 4 areas of operant conditioning) and this is the approach I take when it comes to training. My goal is to balance my time between being a Trainer (Teach new positive skills and behaviours) and a Behaviourist (achieve less bad behaviours) depending on what your dog needs.
Willow
My name is Willow, I am 12 years old and I am an Irish Terrier cross Parsons Terrier. My looks can be deceiving but I am not a fox 🦊 I have a few weird nicknames that my owners give me, but my favourite one has to be "champ". I really enjoy working and doing my best in everything I do, agility, dancing, obedience and now helping my friends to be the best they can too with my owner. Unlike my sister, I am not anxious around other dogs but I am also very good and being calm when other dogs may feel anxious around me. I have a tendency to bark when I am on walks because I get so excited about chasing a ball, or when I'm protecting the house from immediate danger! But what can I say I am a Terrier 😊 My favourite walks are at the beach where I love to dig!
The Van
Meet Cosmo, a 2008 Vauxhall Combo. I rescued Cosmo from being scrapped a few months ago and, having been a mechanic previously, I was able to fix the faults and completely change the look of the van, on the interior and exterior. I had a vision of exactly what I wanted to include in the van, for maximum comfort for both the dogs and myself.
The van is set up for all weather conditions:
Summer= Battery powered fans on each crate, cooling mats in each crate, windscreen cover, wind deflectors (allows the windows to stay slightly adjar), water kept in a cooler.
Winter= Cosy beds and blankets, well insulated, built in dog shower, clean towels and hairdryer.
Other perks: Dog ramp, pet first aid kit, 4 large well secured crates with doors at the front and rear (safety precaution in case of rear end impact), each dog will have a tag fitted to the crates when they're in the van (this will include their names and specific information in the case of the emergency services needing this). And lots of tasty treats!
